Bonnet

The bonnet can be opened with a round hook below the instrumental panel at the driver’s side. Underneath the bonnet in the middle there is a lever which has to be detached in order for the bonnet to be opened. It has to be supported by a rest, which is located beneath the radiator. The rest has to be inserted into the purpose made hole of the bonnet.

Windscreen wiper fluidity

The storage tank for the windscreen wiper fluidity is located under the bonnet and can be easily spotted by the blue sealing lid. Clean tab water with a bit of dishwashing detergent can be used as fluidity.

Camper

Gas

The two gas bottles each of which contain 5 kg of gas (or alternatively a 11 Kg bottle) are stored behind a little door labelled GAS on the passengers side. There is a sliver lid with a switch lever on top of the bottles used to open the gas pipe. For cooking it is necessary to open the pipe, while driving the pipe has to be closed again.

Changing the gas bottles:

In order to exchange the bottles the silver lid has to be removed. After exchanging the bottles the lid has to be attached to the new bottle. In case the spare bottle is empty one can purchase new ones at every petrol station. If one is not exactly sure how to exchange the bottles, one should ask the shop assistant for help. As the use of gas is no longer common in Europe each customer will receive detailed instructions on how to operate it correctly.

Air conditioning

The air conditioning (see image 10a) of the camper may only be operated if the motor is running. The arrows above and below the sliding buttons (see image 10b) mark the optimal position. The upper slider regulates the degree of the cooling, the lower one the ventilation. Both sliders should always be in the position just on top of each other. If this is not the case the air conditioning will still cool, however the cool air can not pass off due to inadequate ventilation and as a result the air conditioning will freeze in and be damaged.

Shower and Toilet

In order to enjoy a hot shower it is necessary to heat up the water in the warm water reservoir, which is located outside of the camper. When opening the tab the water pump will be switched on automatically. Should the pump be working, but no water running, one needs to switch it off otherwise it will be damaged. The breaker is located in the kitchen. The toilet is operated like usual models back home; the flushing is located at the left side of it. Excrement’s will be fluidised by chemicals. When the water tank of the toilet is filled up and also when the waste water is drained one needs to fill the chemicals into the toilet bowl and flush it.

Warm water

The warm water device is located behind a small door at the passenger’s side, which is labelled with “Hot Water”. The door can be opened by pressing on the key a bit. To obtain warm water the blue turning knob has to on the position PILOT, now the boiler can now be ignited with a match. When the flame is burning the turning knob has to be pressed, for another 30 seconds, left against a resistance on the position PILOT, then the knob has to be turned on ON. Now the burner is switched on automatically and the warm water reservoir will be heated. It can take a couple of minutes before warm water is running. A metal lever which has to be pushed adjusts the water temperature. If the lever is at the left-most position the water has a boiling temperature, watch out for burns! While driving the water heater has to be turned off and should be in the position OFF. If the water tank has been emptied fully, there is air in it, it is important that the boiler has to be ventilated before using it again. A silver metal lever will do this job and can be found right below the knob. Just lift it a bit and let the air evade till water arises.

Refrigerator

In the interior of the refrigerator there is a tiny wheel with which one can regulate the cooling range: Min-Max-Off. One has the possibility to operate the refrigerator via different energy sources. While driving it is advisable to use the battery, therefore switch-on the switch outside at the left. Please consider that in order to do so the battery has to be fully loaded. For further information please refer to the headword battery. The alternating current of 220V can be activated by the green switch on the left side of the refrigerator. Please ensure that at all times only one mode is activated. The mode with the alternating current is only possible if it is connected to the electricity network; please use therefore the electric cable which is part of the material provided. For further information please refer to the manual. Another mode of operating is the one with gas, but this is only possible if the vehicle is not moving. Please use this mode only if you have absolutely no other possibility to connect to the electricity network. Special care has to be paid when using gas; the other two modes are definitely easier. Please open the gas supply of the gas bottles as it is explained under the headword Gas. Through a twist on the switch at the right side of the refrigerator you can adjust the level of gas supply, now switch-on the automatic igniters at the right side of the refrigerator. The cooling power can be adjusted at the turn-switch at the right side of the refrigerator, depending of the mode of operation. When using the electrical mode you can variegate between the level 1 and 7, for the gas mode between the level 1 and 5.

Heating

The auxiliary heating system (see image 11a) can be switched on by the turning knobs. The right knob should be in the position of Pilot; the left knob next to it should be pressed at the same time. This causes a spark which will ignite the gas. A tiny blue flame is visible through a panel just above the turning knobs (see image 11b). One needs to press the right turning knob for several seconds so that the flame will not die immediately and has then be turned to the position HEATING (see image 11c)

Water tank

There are two tanks for the camper, one behind the driverscabin for storing clean water i.e. water for kitchen and cleansing use. The second one is on the passengers side is for storing the dirty water.

Refilling the tank:
On the driver’s side there is an opening labelled Wasser/Agua (see image 4). The water has to be filled in by pipe or can.

Emptying the tanks:
Both tanks have a screw cap, which when opened allows the water to drain out (see image 4b and 5). The vehicle should be parked on an ascent; the driver’s cabin has to be higher as the back of the vehicle; in order to speed up the process.

Water tap

The tap can only be used if the water pump is activated. This is done by pressing the button beneath the tap labelled Wasserpumpe / Water pump.

Equipment

Jump Starter

This appliance has, besides measuring the air pressure and pumping up the tires (see tyre pression), many other functions. It can also be used as “starter” in case the battery is empty, one does not need another vehicle in order to start the car. To make a so called “jump start” one should follow the steps below:
1: attach the red (+) “Alligator” clamp to the red (+) positive battery station of the car.
2: attach the black (-) “Alligator” clamp to a non movable metal part of the motor and NOT to the (-) negative battery station.
3: wait for a minute or two
4: start the motor for approximately 5 to 6 minutes
5: should the motor not start, wait at least three minutes and try again.
Pay attention that the black and the red clamps will not get in contact with each other under any circumstances.
1: if the motor is running, detach the black (-) clamp first and store the cable.
2: detach the red (+) cable and store it
3: connect the “Power Booster System” as quickly as possible to the 230V adapter and charge it.

Jumper Cable

The jumper cable for a possible emergency start is located behind the settee inside the driver’s cabin. In order to bridge the battery of a second vehicle it is essential that the two positive and negative poles of the vehicles are connected. The motor of the helping vehicle should be running with an increased revolution speed for several minutes just before the first start attempt.

Tow rope

The tow rope is stored behind the settee of the drivers’ cabin. In case the vehicle needs to be towed away, the bolt of the rope should be hooked into the towing apparatus in front at the right side below the bonnet. Careful: the brake amplifier is not working when the motor is running.

Maintenance

Tyre change

The spare tyre of the vehicle is located behind the trunk door, the tools therefore can be found in the trunk at the left side. Please secure the vehicle by setting up the breakdown triangles, before changing the tyre. First of all remove the protective cap of the wheel rim, and then loosen the wheel lightly with the screwdriver before lifting it with the car-jack to its full extension. Attach the car-jack to the vehicle only at the marked point; lift the vehicle with the crank handle. The car-jack should be in a firm straight position, furthermore a gear has to be inserted and the handbrake should be activated. When the car is lifted you can loose the screws of the wheel and disconnect the wheel. Do not lie down under the lifted vehicle. The spare wheel can now be disconnected with a screwdriver; the damaged wheel then takes its place. The spare wheel has to be fixed to the vehicle by lightly tighten the screws, do not tighten these in one go, instead tighten each screw in several goes. Make sure that they are tightly screwed and after a couple of kilometres repeat this process. After the exchange has taken place, please attach the protective cap to the wheel.

Oil level

In order to check the oil level do open the bonnet. Next to the motor block there is a yellow ring, do push this ring up to loosen the oil dip stick. The car should be parked for several minutes, otherwise the measurement of the oil level is not that precise. Pull the yellow ring out and wipe the oil off. Insert the dip stick as far as it will go and take it out again, now you can read off the oil level. One part of the dip stick is rippled, the oil level should in this array, if not fill some more oil in. To do so unscrew the lid with the image of an oil can on the motor. After refilling it, please check the oil level gain. In case you have filled in too much oil, when the oil is above the rippled art, please do go to a repair shop so the excessive oil can be drained. Trekker Ltda. maintains the vehicles every 5000 kilometres, the exchange of oil and oil filter are enforced. This service is possible in every authorised Nissan repair shop, costs arising from this will be refunded by Trekker Ltda.

Tyre pressure

The tyre pressure can be checked with a so called “jump start with air compressor”. Behind its cover is a small hose with a valve-adapter. This one has to be fixed to the valve of the tyre, on the dial gauge one can read the tyre pressure (measured in Libras). At the push of a button (black button) one can fill in more pressure. The tyre pressure can also be checked with a small gauge. The ideal tyre pressure for the tyres in front is 32l and for the ones in the back 65l.
